What would you do if you were CEO of Apple?

Matt Cutts of Google recently wrote a blog post asking “What would you do if you were CEO of Google?”

Which got me thinking, what would I do if I were CEO of Apple?

Of course, things will probably go south with me in charge. Or to put it another way, people (investors) won’t be happy to see Mr. Jobs no longer running the show.

Let’s rephrase the question:

What would you do if you were Steve Jobs?

Add Flash to the next generation of iOS devices? Ok, maybe not.

How about reinvent the television? 3D TV’s anyone?

Or, how about a printer that never jams? Now, that would be sweet.

So, the power rests in your hands. What products, ideas, or inventions would you introduce as the CEO of Apple?

I will make improvements of iPad especially with adding internet connectivity features (4G) and advanced camera like a digital camera as well as dual core processor.

I’d build a switch deep inside iOS, where an advanced user could turn on “advanced mode,” which would allow things like true multitasking, and make apps less sandboxed from each other. I just got a new Android phone to replace my iPhone, and while I still love my iPad, the new phone has really driven home just how basic (and limited) iOS is. That’s part of the appeal to many people, though, so my idea would just be for the true geeks, who would know what they’re getting into.

    Prelude to your question’s answer:

Apple is somewhere between Microsoft and Google in terms of how they approach the marketplace. While Microsoft has its roots in the purely proprietary (think IBM last century) and more of a cloner than an inventor, Apple has been proprietary AND innovative. Ah, but still proprietary. Google has been open and innovative but lacks the trendiness and artistic chops of Apple, which is why their social endevors mostly result in George Castanza shinkage.

So consumers get the AT&T debacle with Apple’s iPhone, which was pure greed on Steve Job’s part, while Google hit a home run with the open Android (and consumers too!).

Answer to your question “What would you do if you were CEO of Apple? ”

Mr. Apple CEO, I would encourage you to open your software up in the way that Unix and Android are open.

That’s a very expensive way to annihilate your competition. Fair enough.
