Maybe I should have held off buying the now-discontinued HP Touchpad for one of these baby’s.
Good news for all you people who don’t have a tablet (and live in India): There is hope for you yet.
According to the LA Times, the government of India unveiled what it has dubbed “the cheapest of its kind” tablet computer. Aimed for the poverty-stricken Indian countryside, the government-subsidized Aakash, or “sky” in Hindi, tablet is priced at a competitive $35 dollars (would have been $45 had it not been subsidized). It packs the Android operating system that we all know and love, a color screen, word-processing, web browsing, video conferencing, and many more functions considered “not basic”.
Who needs an HP Touchpad fire-sale when we have this?
(Jokes aside, the Touchpad is great. Best picture frame I’ve ever bought!)
