Heading out and taking your earbuds with you to listen to some music? Rather than wrestle with the tangled mess that you pull out of your pocket before you can listen to your favorite Michael Jackson song, here’s a technique from Lifehacker on how to properly wrap your earbud headphones.
- Do the Spiderman hand pose(third and fourth fingers tucked in, other fingers extended) with the earbuds tucked underneath the two fingers.
- Wrap the cable in figure-8’s around your second and fifth finger. Make sure the wrapping is relatively taut.
- With about 6-8 inches of cable left, grab the center of your figure-8 and slowly pull it out from your two fingers. Then, with the remaining cable, wrap the center of coil several times.
- Tuck the end cable part(that can’t be the name right?) into the center wrapping.
The end result should look like this:
Now, when you take out your earbuds from your pocket or backpack, just pull the earbuds and “end cable part” in opposite directions to quickly unwrap it. Here’s a demo video I shot using my iPod Touch. I’d recommend watching it over my lackluster step-by-step walkthrough above.
