Can’t get enough of the millions of cat videos populating Youtube? I understand how you feel. In this short tutorial, I will show you how you can download any YouTube video to your iPhone or iPod Touch. Best of all, it does not require you to jailbreak your device for it to work! Take that MxTube!
- Download YouTube Downloader
- Copy the video’s URL address
- Open YouTube Downloader and enter the video URL
- Download the video
- Convert the downloaded video to MP4 format
- Launch iTunes
- Go to File > Add File to Library
- Select the video and click Open
- Sync your iPod!
This freeware application can be downloaded at CNET.com here. As far as I can tell, there is no Mac version. Shrug.

The video will be saved to your computer in FLV format.
Turn your iPhone or iPod Touch on after it is done syncing and open up your Videos application. Go ahead and enjoy your cat videos!
Update: pragul raised a good point in the comments section. You can download videos from other video sites like Dailymotion and Vimeo.

Hey Tony. Right now I only have an iPad Nano so I don’t have room to add any videos. On my PC I’ve been using Real Player to download YouTube and some other videos too. Thanks for the tip!

I always wondered how to download non-Youtube videos to my iPod Touch… I’ll have to look into that.
I’ve been downloading YouTube videos for a while, but I always lose the links to the videos or it stops working. Thanks for introducing this program! It works great!
Keep downloading, you crazy animal! :0
Thanks for the great downloading tool, Will this work with other video sharing sites such as dailymotion, vimeo??

YES! Sorry, I forgot to mention that important piece of information. I’ll have to update the post. I normally only download Youtube videos and especially since the application is called the Youtube Downloader, I just assumed it was compatible only with Youtube videos. Well, I just tried downloading a video at both Dailymotion and Vimeo, and it worked exactly like any normal Youtube video. Just copy the video link over and download then convert the file.
According to the YouTube Downloader site, you can also download videos from:
Google Video
Yahoo Video
Funnyordie
