Strapped on cash, need to buy a bunch of stuff on Amazon, and happen to be a college student? Well, your day just got a whole lot brighter thanks to Amazon Student.

By signing up to Amazon Student, you get a free one-year subscription to Amazon Prime, a membership program that offers unlimited fast shipping and which normally costs $79 a year. In addition, Amazon Student members will receive exclusive deals and discounts on a wide variety of products via email.

There are no costs to sign up. To be eligible, you must provide a valid .edu address, your school and major. Once you complete the signup form, simply open up the confirmation email and activate your membership. You will also need to have a Amazon account to register.

I am so signing up for this, but I think this is their way to spam students. I was reading the FAQ and it said if you want to stop receiving their emails then no Amazon prime for you.

That’s true. I had an Amazon account prior to signing up to Amazon Student and it is linked to my Gmail account. Not sure if these promotional emails will be directed at that email address or the .edu one I provided, which would suck since I want to keep it school-focused.

You get some, and you give some. Oh well.
