Before I started my own self-hosted WordPress blog, I used a WordPress.com blog. All the articles claiming WordPress as being the best blogging platform available were indeed true. WordPress is the King. Even running a freely-hosted domain, I was blown away by all the things that I could do to customize and spice up my blog.

What made me hesitate in deciding to switch to a self-hosted blog was the level of maintenance it required on a regular basis. Sure, I knew some HTML and CSS, but was that enough? I needed to do my homework and I am glad I took the time to research everything I needed to know on how to properly manage things in the future.

For those of you unsure of changing to your own domain name, here is an article that highlights the reasons you should stay. The world depicted by Pixar’s hit movie Wall-E in which humans have become morbidly obese due to the level of sophistication achieved by technology may soon be reality.

On April 15, 2009, University of Wisconsin doctoral student Adam Wilson sent out the tweet, “GO BADGERS.” Soon afterwards, his second tweet followed with the sentence, “SPELLING WITH MY BRAIN.”

It was the night before Christmas. What started as a casual attempt to fix an annoying problem culminated into something truly awful. Having noticed the occurrence of several of these error messages, “Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 1853353 bytes) in ….,” I decided to act brave by attempting to fix the problem, hoping that if all went well I would sleep that night feeling like some friggin’ computer god. Unfortunately, shit happened and I did not sleep very well that night.

Wait? Something went wrong here?

2009 was an awesome year, right? That is assuming you didn’t lose your home to foreclosure, get caught cheating with over a dozen women, or get sent to jail. But all is pretty swell right?

Although the level of optimism has been lower than normal this year, the future can only get better. Let us not despair over what you hear from the news. Look at the positive side of your life: You got your health, your Windows 7, and newly purchased SUV.

Have you ever purchased a fart app? I have. Let me tell you…that’s not how a fart is supposed to sound like.

Apple recently released a version of its Genius technology for applications that applies the same recommendation system for songs to applications. Other attempts to help buyers decide which applications to purchase have come in the form of lists of top paid/free applications and “hot” lists.

What happened to the applications you shouldn’t buy? I wouldn’t mind reading a list titled, “Worst Apps of the Week” or “I Dare You To Buy This…” Apple, if you’re reading this…here now is a list containing nine of the worst iPhone applications I wish I had never heard of.

This upcoming Wednesday, I will be attempting to pass my driving test for the third time. This goes to show that you should never ask me to give you a ride. But am I really a terrible driver? I don’t know. You see, the rules of the road and I just don’t get along too well.

There are hundreds of reasons why I hate driving as much as I hate taking public transportation. I just cross my fingers and hope that scientists will hurry up and invent autopilot for our cars (Update: Google built one!).
